Research suggests that the most successful athletes are those that have the right emotional and psychological attitudes rather than those with raw talent alone. Developing these can take time and many of those athletes at the top of their sport have honed their skills in this area over a number of years. Building self-awareness is often key to this process.

Our work with athletes falls into three main areas:

  • Tackling Emotional and Psychological Issues

This includes mood swings, aggression, low self-esteem, limiting beliefs, lack of confidence, fears, managing stress, anxiety or pressure, coping when things go wrong, poor self-image, negative self-talk and managing through injury.

  • Developing a Professional Attitude

Establishing mental preparation and routines, understanding own motivation patterns, goal setting, using positive imagery, building resilience, maintaining a positive mind set, relaxation and reviewing attitudes to success.

  • What Next?

Planning ahead for the future is rarely a priority for those too busy focusing on performance for today to think about tomorrow. However the single-minded commitment required of successful athletes can put pressure on their lives outside sport, such as family, friends, or other interests. This can cause some to neglect, or forget what is actually important to them in their lives or what they plan to do after they hang up their kit. We work with athletes to help them identify a broader perspective on what they want from their lives after sport and help them manage this to ensure they reach their full potential both now and in the future.


We work with a number of clubs, schools, academies and professional bodies. We recognise the need to develop strong mental skills in athletes early and therefore seek to provide a structured approach to mental skills training and coaching throughout the season when you need it the most.

Our work encompasses squad or team sessions, individual coaching, Coach training, talks and seminars and attendance at training camps.  We also provide match or competition day support as required to individuals and squads. We like to work in partnership with clubs and professional bodies to ensure a managed approach to meeting your goals.
